St. Christopher Medal

One day, a small child approached him and asked to be carried across the river. As Christopher carried the child, the river became tumultuous, and the child began to grow heavier with each step. Struggling under the increasing weight, Christopher finally reached the other side. When he set the child down, he revealed himself to be Jesus Christ. The child explained that Christopher had just carried the weight of the whole world on his shoulders and, by carrying Christ, he had also been carrying the entire Christian faith. This is where Christopher's name comes from: "Christóforos," meaning "Christ-bearer."
